There is beauty in this world.

On Opening Night of the ballet recital, I was one of the backstage moms, charged with keeping The Sunflowers all together, beautiful, and ready. So, how DO you entertain 8 tiny ballerinas for an hour and a half, all the while encouraging them to no touch their hair or make-up, or roll on the filthy floor and get black marks on their tights or tutus?

Nadia loves to color, so despite the movie we played and the cards games going on all around her, she had her head in a coloring book nearly the entire time!

Waiting in the wings... almost time to make our way to the backstage entrance and DANCE!

Creative Moms Rock! This mom had circled up some of the youngest ballerinas and was playing a spelling chain game. They had a blast.

BACKSTAGE

Here are The Sunflowers coming offstage after their Opening Night performance!

Back in the Black Box Theater again, ready to wait out the rest of the show (about another hour) until Curtain Call.

In the meantime, a game of London Bridge broke out spontaneously.

CURTAIN CALL

ENCORE!

On the second night of performance, I was in the audience! Unfortunately, an announcement was made (much to my surprise) that there were to be NO PICTURES taken during the performance. I was prepared for NO FLASH, but was disappointed to say the least. I did snap a few during the curtain call, as did everyone else.

Big Brother and Auntie await the show

Getting TIRED.

Nadia with Charli Lynn, her ballet hero.

Finally going home, after 4 days of rehearsal and 2 shows!

Click here to view the entire album. I took over 300 pictures, most of them awful. But there are tons of candid shots of the other girls (besides The Sunflowers) if you check out the web album.

I can't believe how big both of them are now... especially Blake. He is soooo tall.
