fly in the ointment

On Saturday evening, I was admitted on the strictest of hospital bedrest and am being transferred by air tomorrow (would have been today, but weather didn't allow) to Grand Rapids because they have a more advanced NICU, capable of caring for 24-weekers, should I deliver. In a nutshell, my cervix failed for no apparent reason and although I am not contracting, the babies want to "fall out".
Best case scenario: I lie in bed inverted for as many weeks as my body will allow without complication (infection due to open cervix, etc.) which would make delivery necessary, and continue to incubate the babies.
Worst case scenario: I deliver very soon. Today we are still in the gray zone, as the neonatologists call it. They have determined that tomorrow is 24 weeks, which is the first day of statistical viability for Micro Preemies. They currently weigh about 1.3 pounds each, measured on ultrasound.
After
I get settled there, I'll be on the blog, as doing much of anything inverted in bed is hard, and I cannot type multiple e-mails or talk on the phone all day. Please check here regularly for updates.
Thanks for your support.

Hi Steff!
Thanks for the update. I will be thinking of you!
Do you need any books? I have been reading a lot for my MPH and could definitely share.
Best wishes - I will keep up with the blog! All my best,
Kim

Hi Steffanie,

All of us from the school are praying for you. None of us can say "we feel your pain" or "we know how you feel" because in all reality we don't. If there is anything you need any of us to do, just write it on the blog (which hopefully, I will be checking daily) or call us at the school (906)387-3041.

Just remember, "all things are possible with God." --Matt. 10:27

Prayers, thoughts and love being sent from Munising Baptist!!!

Lots of prayers for you and those babies! I know many twin moms with healthy micro preemies that I can put you in contact with if you'd like.

Steff and Derek,

So sorry to hear about the complications you are having - we will keep you in our prayers and think of you often. Steff you are probably one of the strongest women I know - you will get thru this and you and your babies will be fine!

Love you guys!

Steffanie and Derek,

There are many prayers being lifted before the throne of God on behalf of your babies, for Steffanie, and your whole family.

Psalm 46 comes to mind for you...

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The LORD of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come, behold the works of the LORD,
how he has brought desolations on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the chariots with fire.
"Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!"
The LORD of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

I am at Mott Women and Children's Hospital, part of the University of Michigan Hospital Campus. I am in the high risk wing in Room F4137 Bed 4.
I am told that I could be moved around from room to room, but that I will always remain in this high risk wing of Mott.
