Where have the weeks gone?

We've been doing a heck of a lot of fishing lately. The weather has been incredible - uncharacteristically warm and sunny!

And the building has been coming right along as well. The roofing has taken the bulk of the past two weeks. The pictures are all pretty boring and can be summed up by this:
We put on a new roof.
The face of the building is finally ready for its lift this week, and the materials have arrived! So, things will really start to LOOK different soon.
Something interesting has happened since we moved. We've rediscovered the weekend! I don't know how long it's been missing from our existence or what made it vanish in the first place - higher education, shift work, wrong priorities? I know it's been gone for a long time - possibly since the Marine Corps days - but I'm happy that it's back.
We work hard all week. We are structured. Friday afternoon it seems that the world is going to spin off its axis. And then we fish or we boat or we just watch a movie, but we relax and that's new again. And oh so welcome.

A couple of weekends ago, Derek took me out for the night on Lake Superior while the kiddos stayed with Grandma. Sadly, this was, I think, our first outing alone in about 2 years.

We made it out to the far side of William's Island just before sunset and Derek grilled steaks and potatoes.
We were pretty far out on the lake, but the water was like glass!

We anchored in Murray's Bay overnight and were up in plenty of time to zip around the island and catch the sunrise in the East Channel. I love the sound of the channel marker bell when all else is silent.

This is where I
live now. Is it any wonder our pace has changed?

We caught the Max B on her way out to "sea" as we headed in for breakfast at the marina.

This old dude just made my morning a classic. I wish you could see his beard. He looked like the guy on the yellow Gordon's frozen fish box. If he'd been wearing rain gear I would have lost my mind.
