For Nora, Who Longs For Winter

We got our first snow, what, about two weeks ago now? Yah, I think so.

The Family Dollar parking lot is where the city plows in the snow from the small section of Main Street where our office is downtown. You'd think by the looks of this that the parking lot wouldn't last very long in winter, but the city 'moves' the snow around constantly all winter long. I just found this out this year, and think it's really cool, but strange too. Where do they move it? I am not sure. But there is too much to just pile it up around the edges of lots, as you can see since this is less than two weeks worth and the snow season is about 7 months long here.

Thanks, Plow Guy. You rock.

Truly, it only took me about ten minutes to get the car out, so I can't complain.

Nadia on the deck. Blake is responsible for keeping the decks (front and back) shoveled this winter. Needless to say, he is pretty peeved about that. But to be fair, it's his ONLY chore here, and he had several things he was responsible for in Iowa. On the other hand, sometimes it's just A LOT, and we may have to rethink that one.

Nadia was SO grouchy this day. I am not sure what was up with her, but she was fighting Blake tooth and nail the entire time they were playing outside. He was trying to help her with her mittens, which had fallen off, and she was just abusing him verbally. Shortly after this picture, I had to make her come inside. :(

One of our kazillion snowmobile trails. They (the snowmobilers) are already here (but not in full effect). The economy has really suffered for the last couple of years due to lack of snow - meaning only 200 inches instead of 300+ and this year we are hoping for a great snow season.

The reason no one can sell a house here in winter???

No, maybe it's because no one wants to move in 300 inches of snow. Yah, I think that's it.

This photo is dedicated to Kristin and Angie, who didn't understand why I was bent out of shape the day that MOPS was canceled. This is what we call EXCELLENT road conditions. By the way, this is a major highway.

But I get it, really, I do. I just wanted to go to MOPS that day!!!

And this one is for you two as well. A little glaze ice never hurt anybody.

This was last week, the first day we had snow that stuck.

And this photo is for Loretta. Yes, I am still stalking the Blue House.

I 'heart' you, Blue House in The Woods. Your ten acres are lovely. Your birch and maple are so fine. Your manicured lawn makes me happy in the summer, as your mud room makes me happy in the winter. Your garage with a loft and full walk-out basement are the icing on the cake.

Yes the house is for sale, silly! I would not stalk a NOT for sale house. Come on!

Alas, I cannot afford you yet, Blue House. But when I can, you are mine, I swear it.

For now, I will just watch you through the woods, now that I can see you from the road since it's winter! I know, I am nuts. But it's an awesome house. Ask Loretta!

Some of you have met No-Nap Nadia. She is featured here in that nasty-faced picture. Uck.

The house is waiting for you....can't you see it is meant to be? As you said, nobody can sell a house in the winter. Divine intervention?

And by the bye...it is BEAUTIFUL up there!!! Let it snow!!! We are all thrilled (as I'm sure you are as well) that winter has arrived in a timely manner this year!

You don't realize how lucky you are that your plow guy so carefully and respectfully goes AROUND your vehicle...that is not always the case and I have known some lost side view mirrors and even (gasp) scrapes. Some of them just don't care.

We have a "snow advisory" for tonight because they are expecting we'll get 2 to 4 inches of snow. So, um, people! Be advised! Snow is coming!

As a native of Wisconsin, I don't fully get the weather people here either. THAT SAID... I stand by our decision to cancel MOPS that day! Ha-HAH!

Oh, to be in your (snow)shoes for one day!

OK - I just got a chance to take a look at the "point" forecast site. I've used it before, but I didn't realize you could do the click and instant weather thing. Pretty cool. Their "looping" is not as nice though. Hope it was ok to add a link to your site on ours. We miss you guys! See ya!
